PRIVACY POLICY

We keep it simple: we collect what we need to run the experience, we never sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it any time.

1. Who We Are

Some Neat Place ("SNP," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website at someneatplace.com and the Some Neat Place mobile app. Our mission is to make real-world kindness a daily habit. Questions about this policy can be directed to founders@someneatplace.com.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Name and email address when you create an account
  • Password (stored as a one-way hash — we never see it)
  • Profile details you choose to add (display name, avatar)
  • Messages you send through our contact form
  • Anchor or sponsor application details

Information from Google Sign-In

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive from Google your name, email address, and profile photo. We use this only to create and identify your SNP account. We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, Gmail, or any other Google services.

Information collected automatically

  • Location data — only when you actively use map or quest features, and only with your permission
  • Device type and browser for compatibility
  • Pages visited and interactions on the site (via Vercel Analytics — anonymous and aggregated)
  • IP address for security and rate-limiting purposes

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Deliver the SNP experience — quests, companion evolution, the kindness map
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)
  • Send product updates and news if you join our waitlist (you can unsubscribe any time)
  • Improve and debug the platform
  • Respond to support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for automated profiling, targeted advertising, or any purpose unrelated to the SNP platform.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Supabase — our database and authentication provider (stores your account data securely)
  • Resend — our email delivery provider (receives your email address to send you messages)
  • Mapbox — our maps provider (receives anonymised location data to render the kindness map)
  • Vercel — our hosting provider (processes requests to serve the site)
  • Law enforcement — if required by a valid legal process

All third-party providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Anonymous analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Opt out of marketing emails at any time (unsubscribe link in every email)
  • Withdraw consent for location tracking at any time through your device settings

7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to understand how the site is used. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features of the site may not work correctly without them.

8. Children's Privacy

Some Neat Place is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, row-level security on our database, and restricted access to production systems. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take protecting your data seriously.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of SNP after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
